Is "Norco" for real?

Yup. It's a strange little community somewhere between Palm Springs and Los Angeles. Large animals are welcome, encouraged and owned by the majority of our nearly 25,000 residents. Instead of sidewalks, our streets have over 90 miles horse trails; dirt, with the occasional mound of recycled hay (this would be "manure" to the city folk). Our streetlight buttons at the corners are placed on 7 foot high posts, so that our riders can change the light without dismounting their steed. Many businesses have corrals and hitching posts, providing a "parking place" for their equine based customers.

We hope you enjoy your stay, weather it be temporary, permanent, or just passing through. We do ask that you drive carefully and slow down when approaching animals. Most of the town carries a 25mph speed limit and our deputies don't take kindly to speeding vehicles scaring and potentially injuring, horses and their riders.  When you stop by to visit friends or enjoy a cup of coffee, be sure to not park in the trails along the roadsides. 

And by the way, don't be surprised when you drive down 6th street and see a camel at the donut shop. Breathe normally, relax, and tell yourself that you are ok. "BERT" is one of our favorite residents, he loves to visit the children at schools and daycares just to say hi and to tell all of  us to stay Drug Free and he IS a camel who cares.
